She starred in the Romanian film 4 luni 3 saptamani si 2 zile (4 months, 3 weeks and 2 Days) directed by Cristian Mungiu. It won the Palme d'Or at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival and two other prizes (the Cinema Prize of the French National Education System and the FIPRESCI award). She also appeared in the film of Francis Ford Coppola Youth Without Youth. She was also in 2008 as Yasim Anwar in the BBC five-episode miniseries The Last Enemy. Marinca has appeared in Oliver Hirschbiegel's Five Minutes of Heaven and the Romanian drama Boogie. In the movie Fury (2014) the actress appeared as Irma who was the German woman who played Emma's aunt.
